 The Cornish Curry Company is a great little business and I was interested to read the frustration on their website about the lack of support from larger businesses in Cornwall in supporting the stocking of their world class product, I am sure in time the good will out!

Recycled Toilet Paper Tissue With Poor Credentials

 We do our Triple Softy Luxury toilet rolls which are made by Accroll who have a good environmental policy, its made in the UK and checks out really well. Vanessa our Cornish area rep helped with a debate and many green businesses were using Nouvelle. However someone posted a report with the following damning detail in:

Solar PV Grant Payments Still Available for Smaller Projects!

Despite the general myth the grant payments and feed in tariff money is still available for smaller projects seen typically on houses or businesses. The news have reported the end of these payments for large solar farms only but this does not affect projects such as 4KW to 50KW installations for instance that we talk to many businesses about. The numbers are still strong and it is a very positive move to consider as a way of safe guarding your energy future needs.

How eCube® works

 eCube® consists of a food simulant contained in a double-skinned enclosure that mimics food temperature at approximately 10mm beneath the surface. With eCube®, the thermostat regulates the refrigeration temperature based upon food temperature rather than air temperature, thereby maintaining food at the proper temperature. When fitted to the thermostat sensor, which controls the compressor, eCube® significantly reduces the frequency of the refrigeration cycles which are now based on food temperature rather than fluctuating air temperature. By using eCube® as a cycle control mechanism, refrigeration cycles last longer but can be reduced by as much as 85%. For example, a Dairy Case cycles 3 minutes on, 2 minutes off = 12 cycles per hour. With eCube®, the cycles change to 8 minutes on, 7 minutes off = 4 cycles per hour; a 66.7% reduction in starts. As the start-up of a refrigerator compressor uses 3 times more power (i.e. start-up 12 amps, run 4 amps) considerable energy savings are achieved. In addition, the more efficient refrigeration cycle leads to a more efficient unit, which then leads to a colder storage area. Consequently, by re-adjusting the thermostat back to its normal temperature settings, there are further substantial energy savings, without compromising food safety and quality.

Solar Energy for Devon Businesses

 Yesterday was great, we went to our first project team meet with a client that came to our first Solar projects meet at the Sandy Park to discuss his needs.
There was a part of the attraction that was in sun all day and was an area people gathered to watch their kids and get an ice cream. So we are going to price out a solar veranda with about 50 panels on top to generate 10KW.
Richard Slack from Devon Maintenance Plus is doing the structural work and Alex McGrath of Alpha Vae the solar works and together they hope to come up with a construction paying back between 5-7 years.
Kevin the owner of the centre is also keen to install the very first (at least we think) electric car charging point at a tourist attraction in the South West for his clients. We are looking at putting two points in to encourage greener travel and offset the energy with the solar install.
Love this sort of project and great to work with such forward looking people. We hope to interest many other businesses through this work and really help protect against the future fuel issues!

There Is Green and There's 'Deep Green'

Whilst watching my friend Jon Proctor on the Hotel Inspector the other day, he used the expression 'deep green'.
Whilst reading a website the other day researching eco cleaning products the website text confessed to them being a supplier of such products in the opening line. Despite extensive searching there did not appear to be any products that would qualify but the first product I found was classified as 'corrosive'. I guess these guys were more 'Green Wash' than 'Deep Green'!

Clean Hotels Is Top Polizzi Tip

 Alex Polizzi was on Richard Bacon's BBC radio show yesterday reviewing her superb new series The Hotel Inspector. She said that if you follow the basics its a bloody good start, which are:
1) Make sure your hotel is very clean everywhere.
2) Welcome guests properly with a smile and look like you are happy to see them.
3) Deal with complaints properly and fully.
4) Run at a profit, make sure you do not discount rooms too much.
The only one I would add to that is to make sure you are "always selling" through promotions, events, web optimisation, social networking and revisits etc.
